Josephine Kennelly, 69, Dies; Was Employed at Yards 35 Years
Miss Josephine Kennelly, 69, secretary for John Clay & Co., for more than 35 years, until her retirement a little over two years ago because of ill health, died about 6 o'clock Friday morning in St. Vincent's hospital where she had resided.
Miss Kennelly, who came to Sioux City in 1907, once was principal of the Hubbard Neb., public school, and later taught here in the Worcester building, which later became Hobson school. Until her illness she was active in the 'Quota club and once as its president. She was born in Jackson, Nebr. October 7, 1874, the daughter of a pioneer family there.
While teaching school here, she also found time to take a business training course.
Had Wide Acquaintance
So wide was her acquaintance- ship, that hardly a day passed but what friends went to the hospital to exchange salutations.
Miss Kennelly became associated with the commission firm when it was known as Clay Robinson & Co. and was acquainted with ranchers from California, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, Colorado, Idaho, South Dakota.
Took Little Time Off
During her long term of service, she was away from her desk only five weeks because of illness.
Surviving are a half-sister, Mrs. James Coleman of Hartford, Conn.: a niece, Mrs. J. F., instructor in Regis college, Denver Treacey of Fort Worth, Tex., Harold, Edward and Joseph Lilly, all of Sioux City.
Preceding her in death were two sisters, Mrs. W. T. Bartlet and Mrs. John Lilly, both of Sioux City.

16 April 1944Funeral services for Miss Josephine Kennelly, 60, secretary for John Clay & Co., for more than 35 years, who died Friday in St Vincent's hospital where she had resided for more than two years, will be held at 9 a. m. Monday in the Cathedral of Epiphany.
Rev. T. M. Parle will officiate, and interment will be in Calvary cemetery. The body will remain in Larkin's chapel until time of services and the rosary will be said there at 8:30 o'clock tonight.
The pallbearers will be Hugh Twohig, B. O. C. Nelson, Frank E Scott., Oliver Haakinson, R. C Hughes and M. A. Sack.
