Grover C. Rasmussen, 53, a former Sioux City resident, died Tuesday in Phoenix, Ariz., after a long illness. He served as Monona County sheriff for several years.

Mr. Rasmussen was born November 2, 1892, in Monona County. He resided in the Mapleton, Onawa and Ticonic localities before coming to Sioux City in 1939. He was a well driller.

He was a World War 1 veteran and a member of the American Legion.

Surviving are the widow, Alice, of Phoenix; three sons, Weare, in the air corps, stationed at Flagstaff, Ariz.; Rowland, with the naval forces at Minneapolis, and Richard, with the navy in the Pacific; a daughter, Ann Elizabeth, at home; four brothers, Alf O. of Ida Grove, Arthur E. of Pierson, la., Howard H. of Sioux City, and Victor of Climbing Hill, la.; three sisters, Mrs. Kate Sexton of Holly Springs, Ia., Mrs. Anna Garvey and Miss Marvena, both of Phoenix.

The body will be sent to the Nelson-Berger funeral home here.

Funeral services for Grover C. Rasmussen, 53, who died Tuesday at Phoenix, Ariz., will be held at 1 p. m. Monday in Wesley Methodist church. Rev. Victor Schuldt will officiate. Burial will be in Grant Center cemetery near Smithland under the direction of the Nelson-Berger funeral home. The American Legion of Mapleton will conduct military rites at the graveside.
