17 August 2022Teresa S. Klemmensen, 81, of Sioux City passed away at home with family by her side following a brief illness.
Service will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 5010 Military Rd., Sioux City, with Father Timothy Friedrichsen officiating. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Parish Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Internment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City. Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Larkin Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.christysmith.com.
Teresa was born March 25, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas, to Jose M. and Maclovia (Rodriguez) Sanchez. Teresa graduated from San Antonio High School, and then went to SE State University at Durant, Okla., where she received her degree in Elementary Education.
Teresa married Virgil Klemmensen on Oct. 30, 1965, at St. Agnes Church in San Antonio, Texas. The couple then moved to Sioux City where they raised three children: Lisa, Debbie and Scott. Teresa worked at Mercy Hospital in Admissions for 18 years before retiring in 2000.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 57 years. Teresa enjoyed camping and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Virgil Klemmensen of Sioux City; two daughters, Lisa and Tim Mathison of Jefferson, S.D., and Debbie and Shawn Holler of Jefferson; son, Scott and Michelle Klemmensen of Sloan, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Lea, Travis, Alisha, Briley, Nikole, Austin, and Brandon; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Bea Smith of Antonio, and Elva Sanchez of San Antonio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joe Sanchez; and brother-in-law, Lawrence Smith.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund.
