Aged Woman Passes Away.

The drawing to a close of a long life of service to her family and community in which she had lived for so many years, came to a beautiful ending to a pioneer woman when the life of Mrs. Ella Coon ebbed away. She will be greatly missed but her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and friends.

Ella E. Skinner, daughter of Samuel and Jerusha Skinner, was born at Avoca, Wisconsin, January 16, 1855, and departed this life at 11 o'clock a.m. Thursday, June 18, 1936, after a lingering illness of heart trouble and complications. She was the last member of her family and had reached the age of 81 years, five months and two days.

She was a kind and loving mother and will be greatly missed by her loved ones and a host of friends. To have known her was to love her. She was married at Arena, Wisconsin, October 11, 1868, to George W. Coon, who preceded her in death on February 10, 1923.

Surviving are four sons: W.C. Coon, Correctionville, Fred, Clarence and Ed Coon of Sioux City, six daughters, Mrs. Cora Queener of Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs. Edna Marsh of Los Angeles, California, Miss Verna Coon of Anthon, Mrs. Irma Coleman of Sioux City and Mrs. Bertha Anderson and Mrs. Maude Page of Correctionville, twenty-one grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Wilson-Hull Funeral Home Saturday afternoon at 2 with Rev. F.O. Johnson, pastor of the Methodist Church in Anthon, officiating. A trio composed of Mrs. M.C. Castle, Mrs. William Ahrendsen, and Mrs. Edna Lee, sang "Abide With Me", "Beautiful Garden of Prayer" and "The Old Rugged Cross" accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Ferne Lawson.

Interment was in the Correctionville Cemetery under direction of Wilson-Hull Service.

Six grandsons were pallbearers, Clifford Anderson, Wayne Coon, Kenneth Page, Edwin Coleman, Merrill Anderson and Merlin Coon.
