ANOTHER PIONEER CALLED TO REWARD

Mrs. Jane Miller Dies At Almost Ninety-Four.

INTERMENT AT ANTHON

Lived In Anthon Vicinity For Fifty - Three Years. — Was Here Last Two Years.

Another of Woodbury County's pioneers passed away on Sunday morning at one o'clock when Mrs. Jane Miller, affectionately known as “Grandma" Miller, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. 0. Goodman at the ripe age of almost ninety -four. She had been in ill health for about three months. With the burden of her many years, she was unable to withstand the after effects of an attack of the influenza and maladies of old age and gradually grew worse. Following the severe sickness of last week, she finally succumbed.

Mrs. Miller was one of the real pioneers of this part of the county, living in and around Anthon for fifty - three years. The first farm owned in Iowa by the Millers was situated where the town of Anthon now stands. Here she and her husband knew all of the hardships of pioneer life. After the death of her husband, she made her home with a daughter and two sons at Anthon and two years ago she came to Correctionville to live with her youngest daughter, Mrs. C. O. Goodman. During the time she has lived here she has won a place in the hearts of all who knew her, and her death is mourned sincerely by all who had learned to esteem her.

Mrs. Miller left to mourn her death nine children, twenty -nine grandchildren, twenty -two great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, Six of the nine children survive her. Goodman home Monday afternoon and the body was then taken to her old home at Anthon. There services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church with Rev. Bishop preaching the funeral sermon. Interment was in Oak Hill cemetery there. The following obituary which has been handed to us is from The Anthon Herald.
