Vinton Arthur Wright, son of James Arthur and Luella Stormont Wright, was born at Esmond, South Dakota, on December 11, 1893, and died at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Spirit Lake, Iowa, on June 7, 1974, following a year’s illness.

Mr. Wright moved with his family to Correctionville, Iowa, at the age of thirteen. He farmed near Correctionville for twenty years before moving to Lake Park, Iowa, in 1940. He operated a variety store there for fifteen years and served as assessor for twenty-three years.

He was married to Miss Iris B. Goodwin on September 17, 1919, at the Methodist parsonage in Pierson, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Wright celebrated their Golden Anniversary in 1969 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Goodwin at Correctionville.

Mr. Wright was a veteran of World War I, serving with the United States Army from December 1917, to April 1919. Nine months of this service was in France. He held the rank of corporal.

Mr. Wright joined the Methodist Church as a child. He became a member of the Lake Park United Methodist Church on April 16, 1946. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, the Masonic Lodge, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lillian. Survivors include his wife, Iris, of Lake Park, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Clifford (Mamie) Law of Cushing, Iowa, Mrs. Jesse (Thelma) Frost of Correctionville, Iowa, Mrs. Ernest (Florine) Piercy of Newell, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a. m. Monday, June 10, 1974, at the Leyson Funeral Chapel in Lake Park. The Rev. Harvey A. Walker, minister of the Lake Park United Methodist Church, officiated, and Mrs. Clayton Arnold was organist. Odd Fellow services followed, and burial was in the Good Hope Cemetery north of Correctionville, Iowa, at 3:00 p. m. where military rites were observed by the Lake Park American Legion.

The Rebekah Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary served dinner at noon in the Odd Fellows Hall at Lake Park. The ladies of the Good Hope Community served lunch in the G. S. Goodwin home following the burial service.
