Death Of Mrs. Geo. Taylor

On The evening of Tuesday, July 2nd near Kingsley, Iowa, Mrs. Elizabeth, wife of Geo. Taylor, passed to her reward.

The event was quite unexpected to her family, as only a little while ago she had been in moderate health, so much so, that on June 6th with much expectation of enjoyment she went with her son in-law and her daughter, Mr. S.H. Brown and wife to visit the Pan-American Exposition at Buffalo. Two weeks were spent in the city, and Mrs. Taylor was much impressed while looking on the fine exhibits, the building and other objects of interest which she saw and the whole trip gave her much delight.

Soon after her return home however, she had a slight stroke of paralysis which seemed to effect her spirits so that she did not say much about her visit to her family. Partially unconscious at times she gradually grew worse, until on the evening above indicated she left the scenes of this uncertain world, to join the majority in the world above.

Mrs. Taylor was born in Brown County, Ohio on January 26, 1835 and was 66 years and a little over five months old.

He parents, Mr. James and Mrs. Mary Thompson came from England five years prior to her birth. In 18?7 she was married to Mr. Geo. Taylor at Cincinatti, Ohio and about 30 years ago she came with her husband and family to Iowa. For the past 21 years their home has been in this vicinity.

She was a true woman, a devoted wife and mother, self-sacrificing and thoughtful of those about her, patient spirit and always ready to give. She loved her home and took great pleasure in mentoring to the comfort and happiness of her family, as well as being very considerate of the welfare of others.

In early life she joined the church of the living God and has always had great respect for His word, for things sacred and holy and for the religion in Jesus Christ.

She was the mother of six children. Her husband, one son, Mr. Clarence Taylor and three daughters, Mrs. E. Bricker, Mrs. Anna Brown and Mrs. Jessie Woods survive her and mourn her departure, while as a family we weep to console ourselves with the thought, that her life was well lived, and its earthly ending was correspondingly peaceful.

Funeral services were held at the residence on Wednesday afternoon, July 3rd. Rev. E Webber preached a very appropriate sermon. A large number of friends and neighbor were present, and the remains were laid to rest in the Union Ridge Cemetery east of Pierson. Miss Elizabeth Kirk, a niece of the deceased whose home is at Faribault, Minn., and who is the principal of the high school in that state, came here as soon as she learned of the sickness of her aunt and her presence has been a great comfort and help to the family.
