Nina Blake was born Nov 9, 1828, in Virginia, and died at her home in Correctionville, September 1, 1916, at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 20 days. In 1856 she was united in marriage to James Coon, who proceeded her to the grave January 21, 1897.

To them were born nine children, two sons and seven daughters. They are: Reese and George Coon, Mrs. Thomas Clark, Mrs. John Kenyon, Mrs. Alice Wright, Mrs. Sarah Patterson, all of Correctionville; Mrs. John Clark of Sturgis, Canada, Mrs. Mary Garrett of Sioux City, and Mrs. Emma Conklin who preceded her mother to the great beyond. When a young woman she joined the United Brethren church.

She was a kind and loving mother and friend, and besides her children, leaves to mourn her loss a large host of relatives and friends.

The funeral was held Friday, Sept. 3d, services being held on the lawn at the home of the departed. The remains were laid to rest in the Correctionville cemetery, the services being in charge of Rev J. A. Campbell, pastor of the United Evangelical church.
