Jas. Coon was born in Columbus County, Ohio, February 21, 1811, and departed this life January 23, 1897, aged 85 years, 11 months, 2 days.

Deceased was married in Wisconsin, 1856 to Ina Blake, from which union were born seven daughters and two sons, all except one girl living to mourn the loss of a father. Mr. Coon moved to Iowa in 1876 where he has made his home until his death. Funeral services at the home of his son, Rease Coon, living south of Correctionville, conducted by Geo. N. Thompson.
