Masonic Rites For Pioneer

The passing of Mr. L. A. Robinson came as a great shock to his family and friends. He had been in his usual health until Saturday when he became suddenly very ill. He was removed to the Runions hospital Sunday and passed away at 1:40 A. M. Monday morning. Everything possible was done to help him regain his health but to no avail. He had lived in this community for 58 years and had assisted in the development and upbuilding of the community which he called home and loved so much.

He was ready to go to meet his Savior. The loving father, brother and friend, who ministered so untiringly to the wants of others, and who helped to shape the life of the community, leaves a vacant place that cannot be filled.

L. A. Robinson was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Robinson, and was born February 15, 1861, at Mechanicsville, Iowa, and passed away January 29, 1940 at the age of 78 years, 11 months and 14 days. He came to Woodbury County in 1882 and has since lived in and near Correctionville.

He was united in marriage to Miss Alice Coon on October 22, 1882, at Ida Grove, Iowa. To this union were born six children. His wife and one daughter, Ina, preceded him in death 13 years ago. Those left to mourn his passing are three daughters, Mrs. Chloe Johnson and Mrs. Reacy Dunkelberger of Correctionville, and Mrs. Verna Chase of Washta; two sons, Howard of Sioux City and C.C. Robinson of Correctionville, 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. C.G. Casey of Correctionville and Mrs. White of Harlan, Iowa; and one brother, Chas. Robinson of Napa, Idaho, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

He was a member of the – order for 46 years, also a member of the –and the -- -- of Sioux City, a member of the Church of Christ for – years. He helped to establish the church at Rock Center school in his community and was a deacon during its existence and also the Sunday school superintendent for many years

Funeral services were held at the Wilson-Hull Funeral Home at 2 P. M. Wednesday afternoon with his pastor, Rev. B. H. Coonradt officiating. Mrs. John Barker and Mrs. Guy Pultz accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Bessie Hatfield, sang, "In the Garden Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and “Good Night and Good Morning.’’

Interment was made in the Correctionville cemetery under the direction of the Wilson-Hull Service. The Masonic rites were given at the graveside with Bert. Fullerton as master of ceremonies.

Pallbearers were: Alex Fullerton, William Walsh, Henry Holz, M. E. Leonard, T. R. Thom and Andrew Trimble. Mrs. Charles Page and Mrs. Claud Anderson cared for the flowers.
