BERESFORD, S.D.-- Jesse L. Ruring, 85, of Beresford, died Tuesday in the Veterans Hospital at Sioux Falls.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Wass Funeral Home at Beresford. The Rev. J.M. Cummings will officiate. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in the Good Hope Cemetery at Correctionville, Iowa. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Mr. Ruring was born March 3, 1895, at Sioux City. He lived in Sioux City, was educated there, and after high school he farmed in the area. He entered the U.S. Army in 1918 and was discharged in 1919. He married Ivy Kissinger in 1921 at Pierson, Iowa. She died in 1945. He married Lorraine Christiansen July 26, 1951 at South Sioux City. They farmed in the Sioux City area until 1954 when they moved to Oregon. They lived there until May of 1966 when they moved to Beresford.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, Jesse Jr. of Cherokee, Iowa and Claude of Climbing Hill, Iowa; one brother, Elton of Washington State; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
