The Correctionville News
2 February 1956

William Devere Riordan was born September 24, 1873, at Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, to Lemuel J. and Harriett Riordan. His early childhood was spent there until 1882 when he came with his parents in a covered wagon to reside in the vicinity of Correctionville. Three years later he moved to the farm where he lived most of his life with the exception of the last ten years when age and ill health forced him to retire and move to Pierson to live with his niece, Mrs. Ralph Spaulding.

Will was a carpenter by trade and did a lot of carpentry work in this vicinity in conjunction with his farm work. He spent several years as a young man in Idaho as a carpenter, but came back again to the home place to farm.

He was a member of the Good Hope Methodist Church.

Survivors include three half-sisters, Mrs. Bertha Hash, Pinole, California, Mrs. Orfa Bleasdell of Moville, and Mrs. Goldie Holcomb of Correctionville, and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held Saturday, January 28, at the Wilson-Hull Funeral Home with Rev. C.Q. Wallace officiating. Interment was in Good Hope Cemetery with six nephews as pallbearers.
