William A. Ament 1924 - 1979

LAWTON, Iowa - William A. Ament, 54, of Lawton, died Friday at his home of long illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Lawton Community Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Robert E. Peters will officiate. Burial will be in the Banner Township Cemetery at Lawton under direction of the McCulloch Funeral Home of Moville.

Mr. Ament was born Oct. 13, 1924, at Holden, Mo. He graduated from Villa Grove (Ill.) High School and the University of Illinois at Champaign. He served three years with the anti-aircraft unit with the 93th Infantry Division in the European Theater.

He married Carrie Wentzell May 20, 1946, at Villa Grove. He was employed as a livestock feed sales manager for Ralston Purina Co., the International Milling Co. and the Hubbard Milling Co. at Hoopeston, Ill., Edina, Minn., Mankato, Minn, and Sioux City.

He was a member of the Lawton Community Presbyterian Church, former member of the American Legion, the VFW, and the BPOE.

Survivors include the widow; one son, William Jr. of Denver, Colo. ; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Tia) Minnette of Canoga Park, , Calif, and Miss Maria, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Clyde (Katherine) Webster of Urbana, III. and Mrs. Margaret Ellis of Sedalia, Mo.; three brothers, Donald of Villa Grove, Robert of Baytown, Tex. and Frank of Canoga Park; his mother, Mrs. Benjamin (Bessie) Ament of Villa Grove and one granddaughter.
