Dennis L. "Denny" Capron, 76, of Sioux City passed on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Services will be at 4 p.m. on Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, 3220 Stone Park Blvd., in Sioux City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Following the service, there will be a time of fellowship and refreshments at Prince's Tavern, 1920 Center St., in Sioux City.

Dennis "Denny," the son of Charles and Dona (Wilson) Capron, was born April 9, 1946, in Toledo, Ohio. During his childhood, his family moved to Sioux City then to Santa Ana, Calif., for a short time before returning to make their home in Sioux City. Denny attended Central High School, then left school to join the United States Navy and later got his G.E.D. He served in the United States Navy for four years until his honorable discharge.

After returning from the military, Denny worked at Port Neal. He then worked various jobs as a truck driver, bartender, and auto mechanic. On Oct. 9, 1968, he started his career as a firefighter with the City of Sioux City. During his career, he was promoted to Lieutenant on May 20, 1983, and promoted to Captain on Sept. 18, 1994. He retired from the department on April 9, 2001.

Denny married Geraldine Peters on Feb. 21, 1969, and one son, Wade, was born to this union. They divorced in 1976. In 1979, he married Rhonda Engel, and one son, Cody, was born to this union. On April 11, 1997, Denny was united in marriage to Pat Prince in Elk Point, S.D.

Denny was a member of the Boys of 68 and in earlier years had been active with the Masons and Abu Bekr Shrine. His hobbies included: working on cars, stamp and coin collecting, and boating. He truly enjoyed riding his motorcycle, going on poker runs with his friends, and playing poker on Wednesdays at Prince's.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years Pat Capron; two sons Wade Capron and wife Donna, and Cody Capron; stepchildren Matthew Smith and wife Ofelia, Brad Smith and wife Theresa, and Sandi Parker and significant other Troy; grandchildren Tasha and spouse Sam, Blake, Shailynn, Tayler, Joe, Devin, Seth, Emily, and Brandon; three great-grandchildren; two brothers Chuck Capron and wife Cheryl, and Mike Weise and wife Dixie; sister Christine Weise; former wife Rhonda Capron; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Connie Dahl and her husband Bob.
