Beryl Adeline Guinn, 96, of Des Moines, formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, April 23, 2001, in Des Moines.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Tennis Heuton officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Guinn was born Aug. 3, 1904, in Whitetown, Ind., the daughter of Edward A. and Nettie (Burkhart) Hine. She was raised in Whitetown and attended school there.

She married William E. Guinn on May 7, 1921, in Indiana. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1931. She was employed as a nurse's aide at St. Luke's Hospital for 18 years. Her husband died Sept. 13, 1990. She moved to Des Moines in 1998.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Ladies Circle, Senior Center and Golden Years Club.

Survivors include a son, Chester L. of Des Moines; two daughters, Gwendolyn Reed of Hopland, Calif., and Virginia Heuton of Sioux City; two brothers, Edward Hine of Dayton, Ohio, and Lores "Pete" Hine of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Roselyn Guinn; a granddaughter, two sisters, Jewel Funkhouser and Edna Steffey; and two sons-in-law, Lewis Reed and Melvin Heuton.

Pallbearers will be Bruce, Chad and Jeromy Stroman, Dennis and Matthew Heuton and John Watkins.
