Rose C. Dziurawiec, 85, of Sioux City died Monday, April 16, 2001, at her residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gary B. Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City, with military rites conducted by the Marine Corps Reserve. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 8 p.m., a rosary at 5:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Morningside Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dziurawiec was born Jan. 25, 1916, in Sioux City, the daughter of John and Nora (Wierzbicka) Mazur. She graduated from East High School in 1933. She was employed as a secretary with Armour and Co. from 1937 to 1943. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1943 to 1945, achieving the rank of staff sergeant.

She married William J. Dziurawiec on June 15, 1947, in Sioux City.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a former member of St Francis Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Casimir/St Francis Alumni Association, Holy Rosary Altar Society, St. Francis Pulaski Auxiliary Club and Women's Marine Corps Association. She enjoyed baking.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters and their husbands, Suzanne Dziurawiec and Malcolm Tarrell of Perth, Western Australia, and Jeanne and Richard Humphrey of La-Grange, Texas; two sons and their wives, William J. II and Wanda of LaVista, Neb., and David and Susan of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren, Krzysztof and Maia Tarrell, Chris, Matthew and Phillip Humphrey, Danny, William J. Ill, Holly and Greg Dziurawiec, David Jr., Jenny, Jonathan and Noah Dziurawiec; two great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, John and Bernice Mazur of Sioux City, and Frank and Cindy Mazur of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Sophia Dziurawiec of Sioux City, and Marcia and her husband, Jim Weidenfeller of Richardson, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Bernice Mazur of Grover, Mo.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Mazur; and two brothers-in-law, Jim and Joseph Dziurawiec.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Danny, William John III, David Jr., and Greg Dziurawiec and nephews, Jim and Jerry Dziurawiec.

Memorials in her name may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland or the American Cancer Society.
