Marilyn E. Hewitt, 82 of Sioux City, died Saturday, April 30, 2022.

Marilyn's husband Gene R. Hewitt, died December 29, 2021.

A Celebration of Life service for both Marilyn and Gene will be held 6 pm Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Visitation 4-7 pm Thursday with the family present 5-7 pm.

Graveside Services will be held 11 am Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Military Honors provided by the US Army and American Legin Post 662.

Marilyn Eva Blum was born on May 12, 1939 in Remsen, Iowa the daughter of Gilbert and Kathryn (Thill) Blum. After graduation from high school she married Gene Hewitt on April 11, 1959. They moved to Sioux City and Marilyn worked for the Sioux City School Board during the mid 1960's through the early 1970's. She retired in 2021 from Trademark Uniforms.

Marilyn enjoyed doing yard work and going to flea markets and shopping.

Gene Russell Hewitt was born on November 19, 1934 in Akron, Iowa the son of Albert and Isabelle (Stephan) Hewitt. Gene entered the Army in 1957 and was stationed in Germany.

After his marriage to Marilyn Blum he worked at Wilson Trailer before working as a Life Insurance salesman. He then worked for many years at Sears downtown, and during the 1990's with Gateway Computers. He retired from Home Depot.

Gene enjoyed his working on and driving his "show" cars over the years, especially his Corvette. When Gene was younger, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Gene and Marilyn are survived by their sons, Rodney Hewitt and his wife Kim and Dereck Hewitt and his wife Stephanie, two grandchildren, Ryan Hewitt and Tyler Hewitt, and Gene's brother, Roger Hewitt and his wife Linda.

Gene was preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil, Frederick and Vincent, and one sister, Ruth Stroman.
