Mary "Dolly" Luella Flathers 1878 - 1955

Dolly Flathers was the second of the three daughters of the late Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Flathers, pioneer settlers of Rock Branch in Wolf Creek township. She lived her entire life in this community on the farm which her father homesteaded at the close of the Civil War and where she passed away Wednesday, May 25, 1955, after a long illness.

Her interests were centered in her home. She taught in the nearby schools of her community when she was younger, and until recently taught a Sunday School class in the Rock Branch Methodist Church, of which she was a member.

Her father, mother, sister Martha, and two brothers, George and Edward preceded her in death.

She is survived by her sister, Mrs. H. A. Wetmore of Sioux City, four nephews and three nieces.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 28, 1955, at the Rock Branch Methodist Church. Rev. W. N. Baker officiated.

Denise and Anita Harrison and Doris and Theola Sadler sang “Beyond the Sunset” and Good Night and Good Morning", accompanied by Mrs. Emery Klingensmith.

Pallbearers were Ralph Sadler, John Sadler, Gerald Yockey, Raymond Mills, Archie Waldo and Charlton Richards.

Burial was in the Fairfield Cemetery with Wilson-Hull Funeral Home in charge.
