PIERSON, Iowa -- Orlan D. Dragoo, 77, of Pierson died Sunday at his residence after a long illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Rock Branch United Methodist Church with burial in the Fairfield Cemetery, Rock Branch. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Orlan D. Dragoo, 77, of Pierson died Sunday, July 19, 1992 at his residence after a lingering illness.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21 at the Rock Branch United Methodist Church. Rev. Donald Maple officiated and burial was in the Fairfield Cemetery at Rock Branch with military rites conducted by Harrison-Peterson American Legion, Post #291. The Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Elaine Bohle was the organist and Lyle and Linda Fiske sang, "Be Still My Soul" and "How Great Thou Art." The congregation sang "A Mighty Fortress is Our God."

Active casketbearers were Robert Weaver, Lee Anfinson, Rick Bohle, Larry Richards, Jeff Gross and Lynn Gross. Honorary casketbearers were Kenneth Susie, Jerry Barthole, Bryce Weinreich, Ivan Walker, Lloyd Nafe and Ronnie Bohle.

Darrel and Carol Linton were in charge of the flowers.

Mr. Dragoo was born June 26, 1915 at Pierson. He was the son of Harry and Minnie (Meyer) Dragoo. He graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1933. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII with the 108th Engineers Corp. in the Pacific Theater. He married Hilda Schaeffer on May 4, 1948 at Kingsley, Iowa. They farmed in the Grand Meadow and Pierson areas for many years, retiring in 1986.

He was a member of the Rock Branch United Methodist Church and Harrison-Peterson American Legion Post #291 of Pierson.

Survivors include his wife, Hilda; Three sisters, Mrs. Charlton (Sylvia) Richards of Lawton, Mrs. Claude (Ruby) Gross of Marcus, and Mrs. Phillip (Erma) Severson of Sioux City; an uncle, Earl Dragoo of Denver, Colo, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
