Victor E. Renken, 83, of Sioux City passed away with his loving family by his side on Monday, April 19, 2021 at a local hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Services will be livestreamed at www.calvaryleeds.com. Burial with full military honors will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Victor Eugene "Vic" Renken, the son of John and Sena (Ludwigs) Renken, was born Nov. 19, 1937, at Brunsville, Iowa. Vic grew up on a farm near Brunsville and attended country school. He graduated from Le Mars High School with the Class of 1956.

On Oct. 23, 1956, Vic enlisted with the United States Army and he served until his honorable discharge on Oct. 17, 1958. Vic returned to the Le Mars area and he started his career with Swift Packing Plant in Sioux City. In the mid 1960s, he moved to Sioux City and continued working at Swift's until they closed. He worked for LA Carlson Contractors, I-Go Moving and Storage, and was a janitor at First Congregational Church until his retirement.

On April 17, 1993, Vic was united in marriage to Leora E. (Bartz) Suhr in Sioux City. They made their home in the Leeds area of Sioux City.

Vic enjoyed fishing at Lake Shetek, camping, playing cards especially Euchre, and playing cribbage. He enjoyed watching his favorite baseball teams, the Minnesota Twins and Chicago Cubs and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes Fan. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Vic was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church where he served as a Deacon, a member of the Boys of 68, and the Heeren-McHale-Wilkens American Legion Post 724.

Vic is survived by his wife, Leora; their dog, Peanut; six children Debbie (Scott) Price, Cindy (Todd) Heaton, Daniel (Gracie) Suhr, David (Rebecca) Suhr, Bobbi Tuton, and Tammy (Brad) Hartnett; daughter-in-law, Julie Suhr; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters Arlene Peters, and Verda (Jim) Marienau; two sisters-in-law Joann Renken and Kathy Renken; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Rick Suhr; son-in-law, Shannon Tuton; three brothers Ervin Renken, Wilbur (Jerlois) Renken, and Donald Renken; and brother-in-law, Clifford Peters.
