Randy Joseph Sweitzer, 67, of Sioux City, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021, at a local hospital.

Private family services and burial will take place at a later date. Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel has assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be offered at www.meyerbroschapels.com

Randy was born on Sept. 9, 1953, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Lee and Mary (Franzen) Sweitzer. He received his education at Heelan High School in Sioux City.

Randy was a thoroughbred owner and trainer.

Randy is survived by his mother, Mary Zook of Sioux City; brothers, Rick (Dee) Sweitzer of Sioux City, and Mark Sweitzer of Calmer, Iowa; stepsister, Sheila (Tony) Martinez; and stepbrother, Bruce (Molly) Zook.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Lee; sister, Mary Christine; and stepfather, Charlie Zook.
