AKRON, Iowa -- Special: Funeral services for Fred Carrington, 74, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Schroeder Funeral Home. The Rev. Maus of Wesley Methodist Church will officiate. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. at Rock Branch Cemetery near Correctionville, Iowa.

Mr. Carrington died Saturday at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

He was born Aug. 28, 1893, in Sioux City. He spent most of his life in Correctionville where his family moved in 1900. In 1918 he entered military service and was stationed in France several months during World War I.

He married Pauline Longerbeam of Mechanicsville, Iowa on Dec. 24, 1924.

He was a member of the Mumford Legion Post of Correctionville, the Hoschler American Legion Post at Akron, and Plymouth Barracks 507, Veterans of World War I.

He formed a partnership with Carl Allen in the auto sales and repair business in Correctionville.

In 1946 they moved to Pierson where he worked with an implement firm. In 1958 they moved to Akron.

Survivors Include the widow; a son Robert of Arvada, Colo.; a brother, Ralph, of Millbrea, Calif; and two grandsons.
