Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church in Lake Andes, South Dakota, for Martha Ellen Seitel Bare on Friday, April 27, 1951, at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. Grimm of Pickstown, South Dakota, officiating. Graveside services were held that same day at 4 p.m. at the Fairfield Cemetery, Rock Branch, where she was laid to rest in the family lot.

Martha Ellen Seitel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Seitel, was born in Knox Co., Illinois, January 9, 1871. When she was two years old the family moved to Jones Co., Iowa, and later moved to Shelby Co., Iowa. In 1883 they came to Woodbury County where she grew to womanhood.

On January 27, 1892, she was united in marriage to John W. Bare, and they established their home in Lyon County. To this union was born one son, Alvin C. Bare.

After living three years in Lyon County they moved to Woodbury County where they resided on their farm near Pierson for fifteen years. In 1910 they moved to Lake Andes, South Dakota, and resided there until 1921 when they moved to California for five years. They returned to Lake Andes, South Dakota, where she made her home until the time of her death. Mr. Bare passed away February 20, 1928.

Mrs. Bare died at the Pickstown hospital after a brief illness on Tuesday, April 24, 1951, at the age of 80.

She joined the Evangelical Church when she was fourteen.

Survivors include her son, Alvin, of Lake Andes, South Dakota, two grandchildren, Ruth Ann Gilmore of Chicago and Donald Bare of Lake Andes, South Dakota; two brothers, Edward Seitel of Chino, California, and Charles Seitel of Pierson, one sister, Collie Van Orsdel of Chino, California, plus a host of relatives and other friends.
