Lorenzo Baker, 81, a retired farmer, died Wednesday in the home of his brother-in-law, A. J. Schmitz, 3504 Bushnell Avenue, following a four-week illness.

Mr. Baker was born January 22, 1860, in Gary, Ia. At the age of 9 he moved with his parents to a farm near Rock Branch, Ia. In 188 he and Cora Thatcher were married in Sloan and a short time later they began farming near Anthon. The wife died in August of 1936. Mr. Baker retired from active farming 22 years ago but continue to reside on his Anthon farm.

Survivors are two, sons, Lawrence of Correctionville and Kenneth of Remsen, Ia.; a daughter, Mrs. John McFarland of Millbank, S. D., and a sister, Mrs. Will Short of Correctionville.

The body was taken Wednesday evening from Richards funeral home to Anthon. The funeral will be held there.
