Bette Jean McGuire, 85, of Sloan, Iowa, died August 24, 2021, at Pioneer Valley Living & Rehab, Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.

A Memorial Visitation will be 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Friday, August ­27, 2021 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa. Per her wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Bette Jean was born May 5, 1936, in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore Edmond Bruneau and Bessie Helene (Heaton) Bruneau.

Bette married Royce Glenn McGuire Sr. on September 26, 1958, in Elk Point, South Dakota. They were married by the same Justice of the Peace that married Bette’s parents.

Survivors include her children; a son, Royce McGuire, Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters, Robin (McGuire) Rockey of Sloan, Iowa and Wendy (McGuire) Brown of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Douglas Bruneau of Sioux City, Iowa; sister-in-law, Sherry Bruneau of Sioux City, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Glenn McGuire Sr.; her parents, Ted & Bessie Bruneau; sisters, Mary Ebel and Judy Haley; and brothers, Jim Bruneau, Don Bruneau and Dick Bruneau.

In accordance with her wishes, memorials in her honor may be made to Hospice of Siouxland, 309 Cook St., Sioux City, IA 51103. Bette, as well as her children, appreciated the wonderful care she received from their hands.
