William Althaus, 74, died Friday at his home at Pierson after a brief illness.

Mr. Althaus was born May 11,1885 in Germany. He came to the United States as a young man. He married Amelia Rock February 27, 1918 at Rock Branch.

Survivors include the widow, three sons, William of Minneapolis and Herbert and Bruce, both of Pierson; a daughter, Mrs. Lorna Buss of Sioux City; a niece who formerly resided with the family, Mrs. Norma Bober of Orlando, Fla., and a brother, Otto, in Germany.

Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Monday at Salem Lutheran church. Rev. John Deines will officiate. Burial will be in Rock Branch cemetery under direction of the Dickson funeral home of Kingsley.
