Bronson, Iowa – Joseph E. Ronfeldt, 67, of Bronson, died Sunday, March 17, 1991, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Nativity in Sioux City, with Monsignor Roger J. Augustine officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Oto, with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1973. Visitation will be from noon until 9 p.m. today at Larkin Morningside Funeral Home, with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A vigil service will be at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Ronfeldt was born April 30, 1923, in rural Anthon and was a lifelong resident of the Bronson area. He graduated from Climbing Hill High School. On Jan. 17, 1949, he married Margaret F. Gotto in Oto. He had been a custodian at the Lawton-Bronson School for 19 ½ years, retiring in July 1990.

Mr. Ronfeldt was a member of the Church of the Nativity. He was a member of the Bronson City Council for 20 years and served on the Volunteer Fire Department and City Ambulance Service. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of VFW Post 1973 of Sioux City and DAV Chapter 54.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Leonard McDonald of Oto and Judy and Dennis Herbst of Bronson; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Camy Ronfeldt of Bronson; his mother, Margie F. Ronfeldt, of Sioux City; two brothers and their wives, Leo and Lily Ronfeldt of Sioux City and Clayton and Cathy Ronfeldt of Grinnell, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Richard (Elvina) McLarty of Waukee, Mrs. Lester (Marvel) Hickson of Gravette, Ark., and Mrs. LaVere (Macel) Groth of Owasso, Okla.; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Fischer, Ed Forst, Joe Schellinger, Bill Lewon, Mike Funck and Dick Moore.
