ONAWA, Iowa -- Shirley Elaine Stevens, 63, of Onawa died Monday; March 18, 1991, at a hospital in Iowa City.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa with the Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. There will be no visitation.

Mrs. Stevens, the former Shirley Parsley, was born Dec. 22, 1927, at Holly Springs. She graduated from Sloan High School in 1945 and had completed at cake decorating course at WIT. She had been a Cheshire operator with Donnelley’s Marketing in South Sioux city and a waitress at Sioux Harbor, Truck Haven and the Sioux City Airport. She married James Howard Stevens May 13, 1946, in Melrose Park, Ill. She moved to California in 1966 and returned to the Sergeant Bluff and Salix area in 1972. She had been a resident of Onawa since May 1989.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Ellen "Kookie" Stevens of Onawa and Rita Colleen Stevens of Fallon, Nev.; two sons, James Howard Stevens of Grants Pass, Ore., and Burton Walter Stevens of Eldorado, Calif.; her mother, Muriel Parsley of Sloan; three sisters, Mr. Dan (Judy) ??nes of Turin, Mrs. Keith (Doris) Frame of Lodi, Calif., and Mrs. Herbert (Marge) Robley of Salix; a brother, Walter Keith Parsley of Sloan; three grandchildren, Keith, Jamie and Jessica Joy Stevens; and four step-grandchildren, Lisa, Scott, Tom and Jenni Stevens.

She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Parsley, a grandson, Vernon James Stevens; and a granddaughter, Sierra Ellaan Stevens.
