HOLLY SPRINGS, Iowa - R. Freeman Coover, 90, of Holly Springs died Tuesday in a Sioux City hospital after brief illness.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Hornick United Methodist Church. Pastor Gary DeGeest will officiate. Burial will be in the Willow Township Cemetery. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Willman Funeral Home in Rodney.

Mr. Coover was born May 8, 1893, at Millersburg. He married Edna Larsen March 5, 1914, at Sioux City. He was a trucker and farmed near Hornick. In 1933 they moved to Holly Springs where he became known for his truck gardens and fruit trees. She died June 21, 1981.

Survivors include three sons, True and Howard, both of Sioux City and Thomas of Savannah, Ga.; four daughters, Mrs. June Shattuck of Smithland, Mrs. Clarence (Nina) Martinsen of Newcastle, Neb., Joyce Swalley of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Janice Dahl of San Diego, Calif.; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
