Ada Irene Zellers was born Oct 1, 1926, in Akron, Iowa to William & Florence (Baker) Zellers, the last of 6 children. Because she did not like the name Ada, she combined her 1st & 2nd names & chose to be called “Adarene.”

Adarene was a musician. She directed choir at 1st Assembly of God Church, Sioux City, Iowa. She taught her nieces, Joyce & Judi Zellers to sing duets as “Joyce & Rejoice.” She made sure everyone had a part for the Christmas plays at church & assisted with costumes & music. Adarene sang in a trio with Irene (Young) Simmons & Alice Cooper. As a trio, they traveled during summertime when Irene was home from college.

She met Alan G. Eichhorn while attending First Assembly of God Church in Sioux City, Iowa. On May 6, 1948 they were married. Their daughter, Vickey Lynn, was born May 18, 1951 & died shortly after birth.

Adarene worked for ELKO in Sioux City processing film & printing photos. With their interests in photography, Alan and Adarene started A & A Photo on Transit Ave, Sioux City in the 1960s.

When they moved in the early ‘70s to Omaha, NE, Adarene worked for a research team at the University of Nebraska, developing DNA for doctors & forensic cases. While living in Omaha, they were faithful members of Southside Assembly of God Church. Being creative, Adarenecrafted & painted many ceramic items for décor in their home or as gifts.

While living in Correctionville, IA, they enjoyed times with their nephew Gaylen & Cheryl Knaack & sons, Scott & Brad’s families.

After Alan’s retirement, they spent summers in Correctionville, Iowa, & winters in Sun City, Arizona, where they were members @ Evangel Church. From 1999-2006, they became volunteers for MAPS & worked at American Indian Bible College & Green Valley 1stAssembly Church in Arizona. Later they volunteered at Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri.

Alan & Adareme traveled to visit relatives & friends. They enjoyed music together. For over 20 years they ministered to nursing home residents in communities surrounding Correctionville. Alan managed the sound system while Adarene played the keyboard & sang.

Adarene is preceded in death by her husband Alan; daughter Vickey; her parents; her siblings & their spouses, Blanche Darling, Clyde Zellers, Leone Thomas, Donald Zellers, Willard Zellers; nephews Ed & James Zellers, Ellen Jean Thomas Hunter, Jeannette & Johnny Thomas, La Vern Eichhorn & Gaylen Knaack

Plus many great & great great nieces & nephews.

Her family appreciates the loving care given to Aunt Adarene by Care Initiatives in Correctionville, Iowa.

The afternoon before Auut Adarene’s graduation to heaven, Laurin & Esther sang to her about heaven. One song Laurin sang to her:

“I Want to See My Savior First of All”

In heaven there are many things I’m longing so to see, Its beauties surely will my soul enthrall; But when I’m ushered through the realm of blest eternity, I want to see my Savior first of all!

Refrain: I want to see my Savior first of all, Before on any others I would call; And then for countless days On His dear face I’ll gaze, I want to see my Savior first of all.

I want to see my parents who are living on that shore & many bygone days we will recall. I want to see each loved one who has journeyed on before, But I want to see my Savior first of all.
