Ila Z (Morey) Gulick, 96, of Sloan, Iowa went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 11, 2021.

A funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Community Church of Christ, Sloan, Iowa with Pastor Kody Killian officiating. (Social distancing measures must be followed, Due to Covid-19 restrictions- It is strongly recommended to bring and wear masks for the visitation and service.) Burial will be in the Sloan Cemetery, Sloan, Iowa. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service Friday, February 19, 2021 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Ila was born August 9, 1924 in Primghar, Iowa the daughter of Thomas and Zelma Morey. She attended the Luton Public School and graduated in 1943.

On October 28, 1944 she married William “Bud” Gulick. They made their home in Sloan, Iowa where they owned and operated Bud's Sinclair Service Station. She then worked at the Sloan Mercantile for three years. After being employed as a bookkeeper at the Cargill Elevator in Sloan, she retired after twenty years. In March of 2016 she moved to the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting, Iowa where she lived until she passed away.

She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church which is known as the Community Church of Christ, Sloan, Iowa. Ila was a member and officer of the Christian Woman's Fellowship. She was a self-taught pianist and would play for church on Sunday Mornings.

Ila looked forward to having coffee with friends and spending time with her family. The daily journal crossword puzzle was a very important start to her day. She would never miss the opportunity to play a game of scrabble.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Terry) Nelson of Ponca, Nebraska, Robert (Sue) Gulick of Olathe, Kansas, Faye (Doug) Johnston of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri, Bill (Heather) Gulick of Hornick, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bud” Gulick; infant daughter, Diane; daughter, Margaret “Maggie”; son-in-law, Daniel Egdorf; parents, Tom and Zelma Morey; sister, Goldie Newman; and five brothers, George, Marion, Jess, Everett and Tom Morey.
