Ruth ‘Eileen’ Topf

Sloan, Iowa -- Ruth “Eileen” Topf, 97, of Sloan passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her family.

A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa, with Father Michael Erpelding officiating. (Social distancing measures must be followed- Due to COVID-19 restrictions- Masks are required for the visitation and service.)

Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Salix. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa. Condolences may be left online for the family at www. rushfamilycareservice.com.

Eileen was born Feb. 28, 1923, the daughter of William Wayne and Florence Lenore (Holden) Ordway. She grew up in Castana, Iowa, and graduated from Castana High school. She then went on to Nettleton Business Training School.

Eileen Ordway and Lawrence Topf were united into marriage Feb. 15, 1944, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix. To this union six children were born. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially attending all of her grandchildren’s school activities. She loved fishing, playing golf, bridge (any type of card game), sewing, watching baseball, and playing computer games. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix.

She was a member and past president of the Tabernacle Society.

She is survived by her children, Kathy Baker of Sloan, Bernard Topf of Mars, Pa., Larry (Marilyn) Topf of Sloan, Norma (Marty) Weber of Paullina, Iowa, and Evelyn (Jeff) Lawhead of Ida Grove, Iowa; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grand- children; and many other relatives and friends.
