Ross F. Beekman, 98, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996, at a Sioux City Hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, with a Masonic service conducted by the Morningside Lodge 615 A.F & A.M., at the Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel. The Rev. Allen Call, pastor of First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Beekman was born Dec. 6, 1898, in Atlantic, Iowa the son of Charles and Dora (Baler) Beekman. He attended Cornell College and began selling insurance for Northwestern Insurance Company until his retirement. He married Clarice Stark on Jan. 31, 1927, in Red Oak, Iowa.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. A 58 year member of the Morningside Lodge 615 A.F. & A.M., and a 58 year member of the Scottish Rite Bodies and received his 33rd degree honorary in 1953. He was a former member of the Abu Bekr Shrine Temple and the Sioux City Boat Club. He enjoyed fishing and golf.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, John and Mary of Le Mars, Iowa; five grandchildren, Barbara Scoles, Lisa Kraus, Dirk, Daniel, and William Beekman; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Mayo Clinic Foundation.
