Leander Francis Frank, 79, of Grand Island, Neb., formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, Dec. 23, 1996, at the V.A. Medical Center in Omaha, Neb. '

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island, with the Rev. Martin Egging officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Frank was born Sept. 28, 1917, in Remsen, Iowa, the son of Mike and Emma Frank. He was raised in Remsen and graduated from St. Mary's School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Esther Mae Pershy on April 23. 1949. He worked construction in Sioux City and moved to Omaha in 1951, where he worked for Swift Packing Plant until his retirement. He then moved to Grand Island.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 378 of Grand Island and the Platte-Duetsch Society.

Survivors include a son, Robert of Grand Island; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosie Mai of Omaha and Donna Pick of Sioux City; three brothers, Fr. Richard of Guatamalla, Emery and Jim both of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his wife in July 1989; and a sister, Loraine.
