HEART ATTACK CAUSES DEATH

Engineer for Soap Concern Succumbs at His Residence

Stricken with a heart attack, A. L, Hawks, 73 years old, an employe of Haskins Bros, died Sunday morning at his home at 506 South Iowa street.

Mr. Hawks came to Sioux City 30 years ago and for 28 years was employed as engineer for the soap company. He was born May 14, 1861, at Mason City, la., and when he was 8 years old, he moved with his parents to South Dakota. He went to Smithland in 1879 and in 1904 he came to Sioux City.

Mr. Hawks was a member of the Methodist church at Holly Springs, the Odd Fellows lodge at Hornick and the Modern Woodmen of America lodge at Holly Springs. He and Miss Anna Lee were married 51 years ago at Holly Springs.

Surviving Mr. Hawks are his widow, Mrs. Anna Hawks, a daughter, Mrs. Dora Bower; a son, Fred Hawks of Sioux City; a brother, Charles Hawks of Maurice, Minn.; two half- brothers, Philo Potter of Peetz, Colo., and George Potter of Sioux City, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in Christy's chapel. Rev. F. F. Robinson, pastor of Rustin Avenue Methodist church, will officiate and burial will be in the Holly Springs cemetery.
