Sioux City -- Darrin Jay Roeder, 49, of Sioux City, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, following a brief illness.

Visitation with the family present will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Darrin was born April 20, 1971, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the son of Dennis and Deanna (Sennett) Roeder. He grew up on a farm near Arthur, Iowa, and graduated from Odebolt-Arthur High School in 1989.

On June 5, 1993, Darrin was united in marriage to Lori Uhl of Battle Creek, Iowa. To this union, two children were born, Shelbi and Tyler. Darrin began his career at Boyer Valley Fertilizer in 1992 working in sales.

He later accepted a position to manage the South Sioux City, Neb. location. The company then transitioned to Crop Production Services. Darrin enjoyed his time there working with the farmers. Darrin later accepted a position as the marketing manager of Western Iowa/Northeast Nebraska/and Southeast South Dakota.

He enjoyed fishing in South Dakota, hunting and playing golf. Darrin liked to travel with his family, as they went on several trips in search of warmer weather during the winter. He loved people and liked to have fun. He was always up for a competition, which may include cards, dice, playing pool or a backyard game of bags in the summer. Darrin usually won. He was loved by so many, and we all enjoyed the fun, energetic atmosphere when he was there.

Darrin was a member of Sunnybrook Community Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lori of Sioux City; his daughter, Shelbi Roeder of Lincoln, Neb.; his son, Tyler Roeder of Brookings, S.D.; his parents, Dennis and Deanna Roeder of Ida Grove, Iowa; his brother, Dan Roeder (Fina) of Ida Grove; and his sister, Danae Petersen (Chad) of Schleswig, Iowa.

Darrin was preceded in death by his grandparents, an infant sister, Danielle; and a niece, Lindsey.

Memorials may be directed to Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.
