Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Tieck

Keemah, Texas; formerly Sioux City

Elizabeth Sylvia ‘Betty’ (McCulloch) Tieck, 97, was born July 13, 1923, and died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020.

Services will be at a later date in Sioux City.

Elizabeth was born and raised in Sioux City where she lived from 1923 until 1984. She was a graduate of Sioux City Central High School, then worked several years for T.S. Martin in the office. She married Robert Tieck on June 9, 1946. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, and President of St. Boniface Women’s Club, “The Busy Bees.” In 1984 she and Robert moved to Omaha, Neb., where they lived until 2003, then moved to Gainesville, Fla., residing with their son James until Robert’s death in 2007. Elizabeth then moved to Keemah with her daughter Susan and family, where she lived until her death.

Elizabeth was the best wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend anyone could have. Her family was her life, and we were all extremely blessed to have her in our lives. She was an amazing woman who would do anything for anyone. Many will remember her for her delicious baked goods, her famous knitted dishcloths, her laughter and kind heart. She will be missed tremendously, but she will be happy in heaven with her husband, the love of her life.

She is survived by her daughter Susan (Richard) Tieck Spry of Keemah, Texas; and son James (Patty Hall) Tieck of Gainesville; three grandsons Brenton (Margaret) Spry of Keemah, Vincent Tieck, and Jesse Tieck of Gainesville; six great-grandchildren, Taylor Spry, Veronica Taylor, Hannah Ringstaff, Vincent Jacob Tieck, Harrison Spry and Henry Spry.

She was preceded in death by her parents Angus and Catherine “Kitty” McCulloch; sisters Helen McCulloch Carlson, Katherine McCulloch Gould; brothers James McCulloch and John McCulloch; and her husband Robert Tieck of 60 years
