Funeral services were held at the Smithland Methodist church Tuesday’s afternoon for Edwin Kelsey Hall, 16, of Smithland who was drowned Tuesday evening in a gravel pit near Rodney, Ia. Rev James E. Lombard officiated, and burial was in the Smithland cemetery.

Edwin was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Otis V. Hall. His mother died several years ago and since that time he had lived with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Hall of Smithland. He attended the Smithland consolidated school and would have been a senior in the fall.

Surviving are the father; a brother, Raymond; two sisters, Charlotte and Lila, and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hall and Mr. and Mrs. George Kelsey.
