Thomas Joel Chesher

Liberty Lake, Wash., formerly Sioux City

Thomas Joel Chesher, 67, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021 in Sun City, Ariz.

A date and details for a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Tom was born in Sioux City on Aug. 19, 1953 to Robert and Gladys Chesher.

Tom graduated from Bishop Heelan Catholic High School in Sioux City in 1971 and began his working career thereafter. He worked for Standard Bearing in Sioux City when he married the love of his life, Denise, in 1985. They moved to the Spokane Valley, Wash., area in 1990 where they stayed to raise their children. Tom continued his career in Spokane at McGuire Bearing and then moved into real estate in the early 2000s. They began snow birding in Arizona in 2018 after Tom fully retired. He loved watching his children play sports as they grew up, and loved being a grandfather to their kids even more.

He thoroughly enjoyed his career in real estate which lead to his passion in real estate management. He meticulously managed his own properties and ensured they were always in tip top shape. He instilled in his children the value of a dollar, and ensured they had the qualities and characteristics necessary to be successful in life. He was taken far too soon, and is so deeply missed by all.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Denise; five children Lisa Chesher (Mike Vandenberg) of Sioux City, Julie Howard (Brian Rich) of Sioux City, Casey of Spokane Valley, Zach (Danelle) of Greenacres, Wash., and Lucas (Candice) of Oxnard, Calif.; nine grandchildren Hayley, Alyssa, Dallas, Dakota, Delaney, Raegan, Demi, LJ, and Cooper; one great-grandchild, Ace; three brothers, Bob (Priscilla) of Sioux City, Mike (Lisa) of Sergeant Bluff, and Jeff of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gladys Chesher; and his brother, Pat.
