Ada Mae Olson

Ada Mae Olson, 88, of Sioux City died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996, in Huntsville, Ala.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Louis E. Lotz officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Olson was born Jan. 20, 1908, in Dorsey, Neb., the daughter of John B. and Winnifred (Pine) Binkerd.

She attended Dorsey Elementary Schools and graduated from Lynch High School in Lynch, Neb.

She married Helge A. Olson on Oct. 27, 1930, in Sioux City. He died Dec. 16, 1971.

Mrs. Olson owned and operated a general merchandise store in Genoa, Neb., in the 1930s. She came to Sioux City in 1940, where she worked as a grocery store checker for 30 years, retiring from Sunshine Grocery in 1975.

She attended Trinity Lutheran Church and Grace United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Sandra and James E. Niblett of Huntsville, Ala., and Linda and Paul Kuester of Sergeant Bluff; four grandchildren, James C. and Larry A. Niblett, Catherine Williams and Gregory Kuester; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Naomi Hokanson of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack E. and David C; and two sisters, Eva Stewart and Nina Willard.
