HILBURN C. STEFFE SR.
HINTON, Iowa-- Hilburn C. Steffe Sr., 85, of Hinton, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1992, at a Sioux City hospital. He had suffered from heart ailments for some time.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Moville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Orrin T. Potter officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery, Moville. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the McCulloch Funeral Home in Moville.
Mr. Steffe was born Sept. 27, 1907, in rural Moville, son of Leslie and Bessie Mae (Wright) Steffe. He married Alys Lucille Hane Aug. 15, 1925. They lived and worked in the Moville/Salix area for several years, then farmed around Moville until 1961. They were in Milford until the purchase of their farm near Spirit Lake in 1965. He retired in 1972 and moved to Hinton in 1982.
He was a member of Moville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; six sons, five with spouses, Hilburn Jr. and Mary, David N. and Joyce, all of Sioux City, Harlan E. and Fairy of Moville, Dirl H. and Shirley of Chadron, Neb., Leslie P. and Marilyn of Athens, Ga., and Steven P. Steffe of Plainview, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Duane (Beth N.) Lau of Correctionville, Iowa, and Lissa L. Smouse of Sioux City; two sisters, Kate Wiltse of Pisgah, Iowa, and Maxine Kuchel of Kingsley, Iowa; 27 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Robinson; two brothers, Carl and Kenneth Steffe; a granddaughter, Heather Steffe, and a great-granddaughter, Marian Johnson.
