Mary E. Boylan was born in Ohio, January 27,1855, and died her home in Rock township, Woodbury County, Iowa, April 17, 1892. She married to O. W. Barber, May 21, 1871, and with her husband came to Woodbury County nine years ago. Under the ministry of Rev. G. W. Carr she was blessedly converted, united with the Methodist Episcopal church, and has been a humble, faithful exemplary follower of Jesus. Her lingering disease at times caused intense suffering; still she trusted in an Unseen Power and found His grace abundantly able to sustain her. At twelve o'clock on the anniversary of her redeemer from all sin, she heard the summons, "Come up higher." All recognized her as one of God's chosen ones, a devoted wife, a loving mother, a kind neighbor, none knew her but to esteem and love her. Her husband and four sons, with a large circle friends, are left to mourn. Her funeral was largely attended at her late residence, and her remains were interred in the cemetery at. Correctionville.
