28 January 1892At her home in Correctionville, January 21, 1892, Mrs. Luvica Laughlin, aged 78 years and 23 days.
The deceased was born in Wayne county. Kentucky, where she married John Laughlin, emigrating soon there after to Indiana, where their family of five children were born, and still to Illinois, finally coming to Iowa where their two living children had previously moved. Here her husband died in 1883, they having been married more than fifty-three years.
Grandma Laughlin survived her parents, brothers, sisters, husband and children. Two grandsons were with her at the time of her death.
Mrs. Laughlin was of a sociable cheerful disposition, consequently she had many friends. For more than sixty years she was a professor of Christianity and a church member, her faith especially of late years, being strong in the Redeemer. A number of neighbors being in to see her the evening before her death she suggested a prayer meeting and requested them to sing.
Her funeral occurred Friday afternoon, the discourse being delivered Rev. J.W. Lothian in the M.E. Church.
