Viola D. Lane, 76, of Sioux City died Sunday, Dec. 8, 1996, at the Westwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, in the Calvin Chapel, at the First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. William F. Skinner officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mrs. Lane was born Dec. 17, 1919, in Homer, Neb., the daughter of Edward and Myrtle G. (Bates) Hoover. She graduated from Central High School in 1936. She married Everett Lane on Nov. 3, 1937, in Winnebago, Neb. He died Feb. 22, 1959, in Sioux City. She was employed as a receptionist for Dr. Charles Keenan's office, and later as a cashier for Loe's Market.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and a past member of the Moose Lodge. She was an avid bowler.
Survivors include three sons, Jim and his wife Carol, Russ and his wife Carla, and Linsey all of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Linda and Steve Frink of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren, Tom, Ken, Roger, Chad, Chris, Tim, Rebecca, Carrie, and Michael Ann Lane, and Wendy Winters; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Hoover.
Pallbearers will be Tom, Ken, Roger, Chad, Chis, and Tim Lane
