Nettie P. Carlson, 97, of Sioux City died Sunday, Dec. 8, 1996, at the Indian Hills Care Center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Dr. Charles Klink officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 6 p.m., at the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mrs. Carlson was born Oct. 11, 1899, in Smithland, Iowa, the daughter of John and Mary Kathryn (Chilton) Peterson. She married Alfred J. Carlson on Feb. 25, 1925, in Onawa, Iowa. He died Sept. 15, 1992, in Sioux City. She grew up in the Smithland area and lived in the Leeds area of Sioux City for about 40 years. She was employed at the Browns Cafe in Leeds for many years.
She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, a Gold Star Member of the Naomi Circle, and the Siouxland Senior Center.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Lynn A. and Sandy of Merrill, Iowa and Donald R. and Gladys of Holt, Mo.; two daughters and their husbands, Delores I., and Lynn Townley of Sioux City and Erma I. and Verne Comstock of St. Paul, Minn.; a brother, Carl Peterson of Mapleton, Iowa; a sister, Helen ;"Bobbie" Hayden of Butte, Mont.; 19 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Darrell; two sisters, Sylvia and Edith; and six brothers, Lester, Jay, LeRoy "Pat", Leonard, John, and Clifford.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
A memorial has been established in her name at Wesley United Methodist Church.
