George F. Wagner

George Frank Wagner, 88, of Antigo, Wis., formerly of Sioux City, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 1996.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Antigo. Visitation, with a parish wake service and Knights of Columbus rosary, will be held today at the Bradley Funeral Home in Antigo.

Mr. Wagner was born Aug. 1, 1908, in Antigo, the son of Anton and Clara (Wavrunek) Wagner. He married Alice M. McDermott on June 10, 1946, She died May 3, 1959. He married Zella Kaiser on Nov. 26, 1966. She died Dec. 1, 1996. He graduated from Antigo High School in 1927. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed by Chicago & Northwestern Railroad in Antigo and Ashland, Wis., Chadron, Neb., Huron, S.D., and Sioux City. He retired in 1973, after 46 years as chief office clerk. He moved to Antigo in 1994.

He was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Antigo, and a former member of Blessed Sacrament Cayatholic Church in Sioux City. He was also a member of the American Legion Sparks Doernenburg Post 3, MSGR Conrad Saile Council 1002, the Knights of Columbus and MSGR Conrad Saile Assembly 1214, a fourth degree Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include a granddaughter, Kristine Wagner; and two sisters, Virginia and her husband Henry Ehlers and Margaret Ourada all of Antigo.

He was preceded in death by a son, Allan G.; a sister, Rose Mucha; and a brother, Edward.
