Elizabeth “Betty” Marie (Burke) Davis, the daughter of William “Bill” and Marie (Weifenbach) Burke, was born on May 15, 1947, in Mapleton. Betty grew up in Danbury and graduated from Danbury Catholic High School with the Class of 1965.

On March 9, 1966, Betty was united in marriage to Donald Davis in LaVerne, Minn. The couple made their home in Sioux City for the next nine years and welcomed the birth of their two daughters, Michelle and Christine.

While living in Sioux City, Betty worked as a secretary at the YMCA. The family then moved to Omaha, Neb., and were blessed with a son, Donald. A job change for Don relocated the family to Lakeville, Minn. For the next 20 years they lived in the Lakeville area where Betty was employed as a secretary at Cargill.

In 1989, Don and Betty decided to purchase the family farm outside of Castana and returned to the area to begin enjoying their retirement. While living on the farm, the couple enjoyed tending to their large garden. Eventually, in 2010, the couple moved to Danbury.

Betty enjoyed attending car shows, watching tennis on TV, cheering on her Minnesota Vikings, and tending to her flower gardens. She loved to sing, dance, and enjoy a Hershey’s with almonds. Betty adored time spent with her family, and she took pleasure in cooking and baking for them. She will be fondly remembered for her chocolate birthday cakes and blarney stones at Christmas. Betty will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory include her husband Don Davis of Ida Grove; children, Michelle (John) Madsen of New Market, Minn., Christine (Jason) Mahrt of Danbury, and Donald Davis of Mapleton; 12 grandchildren: Clayton, Carson and Cecelia Madsen, Shelby (Ryan) Trucke, Caden and Jordan Mahrt, Ethan, Kelsey, Logan, Kiley, Kenzey and Leighton Davis; one great-granddaughter, Reign Trucke; sisters, Pat (Doug) Jensen of Colorado, Mary (Ken) Mitchell of Arizona, and Casey Krueger of Danbury; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Marie Burke; infant son, Michael; and brother-in-law, Randy Krueger.
