SIOUX CITY - Dorothy Leila Jung, 87, of Sioux City died Monday, May 11, 2009, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab under Hospice of Siouxland care.

The body was cremated. There will be no services. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Dorothy was born Oct. 2, 1921, in her parent's home in Sioux City, the daughter of Herman and Rose (Reeder) Kruck. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools, graduating from Central High School.

She married Wilford W. Jung on May 13, 1939, in Sioux City. He died in 1993, in Sioux City, During World War II, she worked for Gaynor-Bagstad, a firm in Sioux City that sold drugs, hospital and physician supplies. The couple later ran a bakery on Pierce Street near the Lutheran Hospital.

For many years, she attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Her paternal grandfather was one the thee church founders. Later, she transferred to Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Her paternal grandmother's maiden name was Bathurst and she was a descendent of Sir Francis Bathurst, who was an English earl. He made a trip from England to the United States and settled in Georgia in 1736. The expedition to Georgia was led by James Ogelthorpe, who founded Georgia. In addition, Charles and John Wesley were on the same voyage .

The important things in her life were her family, her house and yard, cooking and baking.

Survivors include her son, Jim Jung of Sioux City. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilford; and an infant son.
