WESTFIELD, Iowa (Died Sioux City)-Ronald A. "Ron" Loutsch, 77, of rural Westfield passed away Monday, May 4, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron, Iowa, with Monsignor Richard Zenk officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with the family present after 6 p.m. and a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary, all at the church. Ronald Andrew Loutsch was born July 13, 1931, on the family farm near Oyens, Iowa, the son of Emil and Rose (Hunt) Loutsch. He attended grade school at St. Catherine's in Oyens and later high school in Remsen, Iowa, all the while helping his family on the farm. He graduated from Remsen St. Mary's in 1949. Following graduation, he started farming near Kingsley, Iowa. After two years, he moved to a farm near Westfield, Iowa, where he operated a dairy farm.

He was united in marriage to Lorna M. Kunkel on June 16, 1953, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, Iowa. They continued farming and raising livestock near Westfield. He was still actively involved in the farming operation up until his passing.

He was a longtime member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron and the Knights of Columbus. He served as a leader for the "lowest" 4-H club for more than 28 years. He also served for many years on the Plymouth County Fair Board, Iowa Rabbit Breeders Association, Plymouth County Farm Bureau and MidAmerican Dairy Association. He loved raising livestock, especially dairy cattle, chickens and rabbits. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing and playing cards. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of more than 55 years, Lorna of Westfield; 14 children and spouses, RoseMary and Dan Mullane of Mascoutah, Ill., Janice and Rick Rolfes of Merrill, Iowa, Tony and Patti Loutsch of Sioux City, Danny Loutsch of Westfield, Barb and Gary Heeren of Akron, Judy Loutsch of Le Mars, Iowa, Phyllis and Bob Newman of Le Mars, Roger Loutsch of Westfield, Florence and Ray Skinner of Bronson, Iowa, Margie Perry and her fiance, Myron Kolker of Le Mars, Tim Loutsch of Westfield, Georgia and Corey Steen of Akron, Brian and Doris Loutsch of Le Mars and Brad Loutsch of Westfield; 30 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ray Loutsch and his wife, Joan of Oyens and Jerry Loutsch of Indianola, Iowa; two sisters, Dorothy Kilker of Le Mars and Mary and her husband, Ben Wells of Cherokee, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Wilma Loutsch of Dysart, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Orville, Bobby and Bill; a brother-in-law, Robert Kilker; a sister-in-law, Rosie Loutsch; a son, Joseph Loutsch; and a son-in-law, Brent Perry
