Esther M. Porter

SIOUX CITY-Esther M. Porter, 91, of Sioux City passed away Monday, May 4, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the leader of the North Congregational Jehovah's Witness Church officiating. Private graveside services will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Esther was born March 24, 1918, in Lyons, Neb., to Alfe G. and Myrtle L. (Floyd) Aspleaf.

She married Kenneth E. "Buck" Porter Jr. on Oct. 9, 1948, in South Sioux City. She took great pride in being a homemaker, enjoying her skills in sewing and cooking.

In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing. She was active in the North Congregational Jehovah's Witness Church in Sioux City.

She is survived by her husband, Buck Porter of Sioux City; daughters, Karen Moser and her husband, Mike of Sioux City, Jean Eilts and her husband, Lloyd of Ireton, Iowa, and Shirley Swegle and her husband, Robert of California; grandchildren, Kevin Moser and his wife, Julie and their children, Sarah and Jake of North Bend, Ohio, and Kimberly Henrickson and her husband, Dan and their child, Rachel of Dallas, Ore.; additional grandchildren, Sherri, Beverly, Frank, Tracy, Lori and Melanie; numerous additional great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a sister, May Crosby of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; brothers, Lloyd, Alfin and Bob; sisters, Mary, Alice and Frances; and a grandson, Kirk Moser.
